Did You Know That All Transportation of all Kinds Comes Straight from a Wheel????

The Wheel according to Wikipedia is a devise that allows heavy objects to be moved easily through rotating on an axle through it’s center, facilitating movement or transportation while supporting a load (mass) or performing labor in machines.  The wheel has been around for many years steaming back to the 4th millennium B.C.in Mesopotamia, the Maykop culture in Northern Caucasus and in Central Europe so the original wheeled vehicle culture of origin is still under debate!

However, throughout the entire planet all of our forms of transportation have all stemmed from the wheel.   There were the chariots back in the Bronze era with their 4 spoke wheels, later 6 and 8 spokes in the wheels and then here in this country the Wagon Wheels and the Stagecoaches carrying pioneers across the plains.  Then the Steamships that hauled people and products up and down the huge Rivers like the Mississippi River all had steering wheels.  Later came the Trains and their driving wheels on a steam locomotive that roared down the railroad tracks.  This gave way to the Automobile and the Motorcycles as well as Trucks all with wheels.  Yet even the discovery of Flight by the Wright Brothers and Airplanes still they had wheels which gave the Airplane stability and ability to drive on the runway before take off into the air!

With the advancement of the wheeled vehicles in our society it has caused the back roads that the cattle traveled on to become little by little more advanced from foot paths or cattle paths to paved roads and in the 1950 era the development of the Interstate Highway and Freeway Roads which has produced mass movements of people and our society has definitely had a shift.  People are moving and being transported at a level breaking speed!

How Has Our Society on this Planet Changed??

The days of relatives living near-by and friends sipping lemonade or ice tea on the front porch are from a day gone by.  Today transportation has affected more people on this planet than ever before in the history of the human race living on this earth.  No longer is it a day trip to see someone in a neighboring community but one can be transported not only across this country in a few hours but also can be flown off to another country of the other side of the world.

The basic concept of the wheel is the same as during the era when and where it was first  invented but the usage of the wheel today has magnified billions of times transporting peoples and products far more than anyone ever dreamt of.

A Question to Ponder!!

An interesting thought provoking question:  How will we use the Wheel 100 years from now?
